KoBoToolbox is a suite of tools for field data collection for use in challenging environments. The software is free and open-source. It allows data collection using Android-enabled mobile devices and data submission to an online server. This training course in KoboToolbox will equip the participants with skills to develop, implement and manage mobile data collection platform using KoboToolbox

This is a self-paced distance KoboToolbox eLearning course. This means that learners take the lessons from our e-learning portal at their own time and convenience. It is envisaged that it will take approximately 5 to 10 days to complete this course.

The lessons consist of instructor-led/instructor-narrated video tutorials which are pretty easy to follow. Due to the hands-on and technical nature of the course, support is usually offered online/virtually via Skype, AnyDesk, Team Viewer, Email, Zoom, or via any other medium of preference.

The instructors are seasoned ODK(Open Data Kit), KoBoToolbox, Ona, SurveyCTO, CSPro, and other mobile data collection solutions implementers. Other than training the instructors work as mobile and web-based systems developers.

One of the commonly used tools is KoBoToolbox. KoBoToolbox has been used to observe elections, monitor rainforests, track outbreaks,  conduct one-off surveys, rapid assessments, baseline studies, project mid-term evaluation, project end-term evaluation,  market research, during and directly following disasters, and in many other cases.

What is KoBoToolbox

KoBoToolbox is a suite of free and open-source tools for field data collection using mobile devices for use in challenging environments. Most KoBoToolbox users are people working in humanitarian crises, as well as aid professionals and researchers working in developing countries.

What can you do with KoBoToolbox?

1. Build complex forms with skip logic and validation using KoBoToolbox Form Builder or XLSForm (XLSForm is recommended for larger forms)
2. Collect data offline on a mobile device and send it to a cloud server.
3. Collect data using any mobile devices via the webforms
4. Map data

6. Store collected data on a server and extract it into useful formats for analysis
